So I'm learning how to care for a yard..

There's so much work to be done personally and professionally, and i'm in a place where I can continue getting things done, only more efficiently.

Nama has a pretty sizeable yard and a number of projects in-line to keep it up. She and my Father are suuuper down-to-earth. I came in as the airy, humble servant of a son to be used at will for all tasks she'll have me manage.. and there are a many tasks to be managed..

This is all new to me but I'm just glad to be in her presence. I'm so glad to be of service to her, whatever she'll have me do, I'm doing with a smile. Recycling and rotating the compost was nothing. Setting the concrete pavers down was relatively easy once I got the hang of it. She reinforced the work I did with positivity and I relished in it. She came home from work and I was all "Look, Granny!! Come see what I did!!" like the proud Grandson I am.. Task after task, I I'm proving my worth out there WITH A SMILE. Next project was to create rows in the garden so we could plant tomatoes and beans. I devour whole tomatoes alone and enjoy beans whenever I eat em. Let's get it!

I had one job: create three rows

Nama (and my Dad) set me up with step-by-step instructions, told me to google it, go in the shed and grab my tools, then get to it. Bet! I google all the time. OG Googler here. So I does what I does, I googles it, watch a couple lil youtube videos, now I know what i'm doing. I got this. I remember what I just watched and a lil bit of what I read, I had my tools, minus the hoe, cuz If you ask me, "I ain't got no hoes, mane." I used a small pitchfork-looking thing in place but that's cool. We work with what we have, right? I observed the landscape, did a lil mental math, then went right in.

I butchered the rows.

Not because I ain't have a hoe tho...

You'd think there were bodies lying around waiting to be put to the worms how deep I dug those rows. We're planting tomatoes, ain't we? I'm looking at em like "Something aint right here." Did a lil mental math, Dug em another way.. the math still off..

Nope.

I put everything back in the shed and waited for her garden expertise to get home. "I'm good, google. Imma wait on Nama."

She came home, laughed at me, showed me the way, then that was that.

Next day is planting day.

She gives me step-by-step details of how we're gonna plant em and I'm just so thrilled to be a gardening man. Gardening with NAMA. THE HIGH GRANNY. I'm One with the Earth. Root Chakra work. Cultivating me some Gaia. Yea! I simply say "Okay" and "Yes, ma'am" as she gives me instructions cuz it's not hard to remember simple directions and i'm in such a state of joy that I just wanna get started already. Anyways, "I'm intelligent."

So we get in the garden. I'm talking to her while we're planting, making my jokes, oh-so-jovially.

I planted the beans wrong. Not wrong enough that they won't grow but wrong enough to leave an impression worth reflecting on in terms of my focus, where it went and how fast it went before my eyes...

Wrong enough that Nama said (If i were a slave) I'd be kicked off the field and forced to work in the house..
